Night Richard Night

From the Director Zoe Lucas

This contemporised interpretation continues the exploration of complex and challenging inter dynamics of human relationships, but does so through the lens of a time when things were changing; the 1960’s. I chose to use this decade and the events that were happening at the time because I have a deep fascination with the societal shift that happened within it. Ideals of how things ‘should be’ were changing and it paved the way for the freedoms we have now. The chosen plays all have elements of this change and that’s why I chose them. Each of the plays, in their own way highlight the strengths and power of human connection and challenges those foundations in which the connection is built and in turn what that means for our personal and at large societal decision making.
Creating Night, Richard. Night. has been one of the best experiences of my Theatre journey so far. Thank you to the wonderful people who have helped make this script come to life.
